NEW MOON RITUALS TO MANIFEST your dreams
On the day of the New Moon and in the days that follow, there is a window of opportunity to set new intentions, allow new inspirations to flow, and plant the seeds for health, prosperity, and abundance in your life through journaling, affirmations, practicing conscious gratitude, and meditation for self care.
How does the Moon Cycle affect our energy?
With its close proximity to the earth, the energy of the moon influences our lives on a daily basis even if we’re not consciously aware of it. Every 28 days, it makes a full circle from the Full Moon, to the New Moon, and back to the Full Moon again with roughly half of the time in a waning phase and the other half in a waxing phase. These phases have an effect on the energy of everything on earth including plants, animals, and other living beings, as well as our physical appearance, and our emotional and spiritual states. By being consciously aware of these phases, we can work WITH the powerful energy of the moon.
Think about how the moon influences bodies of water through the ebb and flow of the tides, and then consider that our bodies are made up of about 70% of water (depending on our age). Consequently, this influence that we physically experience with the different phases of the moon is something that we can and should flow with to be in more harmony with what is naturally occurring.
Energy of the New Moon and the Waxing Cycle
Up until the New Moon, we are in a waning moon cycle. But on the New Moon, the time of ‘letting go’ is finished, and we can set the stage for new possibilities for the month because everything is calm and settled. The energies are more concentrated in the earth at this time, which means it’s a great time to consume root vegetables to receive the energetic benefits, as well as a good time for planting seeds because the seeds will sprout more easily!
The gravitational force is concentrated more on our physical plane during the New Moon so for our personal ‘growth’ this is the time when the flow comes more easily and the energies offer a beautiful opportunity for us to ‘plant seeds’ that can then incubate. Some ways we do this are by writing affirmations, coming up with ideas we want to implement, etc., because this is a time for us to be focused here in our physical experience.
Starting on the New Moon and throughout the waxing cycle, we have that period of ‘planting’ the seeds of our ideas, but not seeing the fruits of our labor yet. However, nature shows us in the concrete experience of planting an actual seed that by nurturing and watering it, the eventual evidence of the sprout emerges from the soil.
Once the seed of an idea has been ‘planted’, our visions and dreams ARE going to sprout and the fruits of them can be ‘harvested’ when the time has come. Obviously, many of our bigger visions and dreams may not come to fruition in a month’s moon cycles, but working with the flow of the energies will definitely enable us to see more productivity and completion of our goals over time.
Starting from the day of the New Moon and for the next 14 days until the Full Moon, it is the time where we can keep envisioning, creating, and magnifying our ideas because the energy to support this is building and giving us this window within which to plant those ‘seeds’ and allow them to start sprouting.
5 Things to Do on the New Moon to Manifest Your Dreams
1. New Moon Cleansing Salt Bath
for New Inspirations to Flow in as Your Field is Cleared
The day of the new moon is perfect for a cleansing bath to release trapped emotions and extra energetic baggage we have carried around. The time has come to let it go!
Below you will find my favorite recipes for a cleansing bath and foot rub with you, but first, a little background:
Water is a natural carrier of frequency and vibration and, therefore, emotion. If you have ever read Dr. Masaru Emoto’s book “The Hidden Messages In Water”, you know how our thoughts and emotions can be transferred into water.
Salt has the natural ability to absorb and transmute denser energies and has been used throughout time and in religious and spiritual traditions as part of their sacred rituals. Hippocrates (460-370 BC) made frequent use of salt in his healing methods, and specifically mentions the inhalation of steam from salt water for the relief of respiratory symptoms. My preference of salt for a bath are Sea Salts as they are mineral-rich.
Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, provides a naturally alkaline substance that is known for helping to release toxins from the body.
Lavender is one of the most beneficial essential oils and one of the most widely used essential oils. Dr. Josh Axe states that Lavender has been referenced for over 2000 years. Scientists and researchers believed when Spikenard was used in the Bible to wash the feet of Jesus, it was primarily Lavender. During this time, Lavender was worth one year’s wages. Lavender oil is soothing, promotes relaxation, and assists in healing and treating skin inflammation including eczema, dermatitis, burns, scrapes, and cuts.
Frankincense oil is derived from the resin of the Boswellia tree, and distilled. It has been used for over 4000 years and typically grows in the Middle East today. It is also referenced In the Bible, as one of three gifts offered to Jesus by the wise men. Frankincense oil is considered a highly spiritual oil and helps reduce inflammation in the body such as in joints, the GI tract like colitis, the thyroid, and has been shown to be effective for any neurological tics; it has the ability to even out skin tone, and its most promising use may be as a cancer treatment.
Silke’s Healing Lavender Bath Recipe
21 drops of Lavender essential oil
1 cup of Sea Salt (may also use Himalayan or Epsom)
1 cup Baking Soda
Light candles, dim the lights, and soak for 15 minutes; focus on letting go of things you have been carrying physically, mentally and emotionally. If you are attuned to Reiki you can additionally send Reiki into your bath water. At the end of the 15 minutes, start shifting your awareness to gratitude and send it into the water as you drain it out and release it. I always want to be consciously aware of what I am leaving behind in every space in which I am present and this is my way of releasing while at the same time sending gratitude into the water system as it is being transformed again.
Rinse yourself off with warm water and after you are dry, cozy up in something warm and comfortable.
Massage your feet with the Frankincense oil at 5% dilution.
Salt Rub for the Shower
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup sea salt
7 drops lavender oil.
Mix and use in shower instead of a bath.
Frankincense oil 5% dilution
Mix 31 drops of Frankincense oil with
1 oz. carrier oil (almond, apricot, avocado, olive, coconut, fractionated coconut, grape seed, etc.)
2. Clean and Clear Your Space
Cleaning your physical space - The New Moon is a very good time for the physical cleaning and dusting of your home to make room for sacredness to come in.
One note on this: Make the cleaning a meditation for you. You can contemplate the things you are letting go of as you clean the space.
As you do this, you may discover bigger things to contemplate, which need to be adjusted or even released like unhealthy relationships, a job, or outdated mindsets.
Our inner world is reflected on the outside, and vice versa. As you clean and dust, you let go of physical debris; and now, by doing this with a meditative awareness, you will also be letting go of energetic debris.
Clearing your energetic space - Equally important to the physical cleaning is the act of energetically clearing your home through the sacred ritual of smudging.
Smudging is the act of burning sage with the intention of purification. It is also believed that smudging can open our energy field, allowing us to be more connected with ourselves and others on a deeper spiritual level. Click here for instructions on Smudging.
3. Take Time to Write Specific Affirmations and Bring In Your Ideas
Take some time on the New Moon and anytime during the whole waxing cycle to go inward and reflect on the things that make your heart sing.
For this ritual, first print out this Flower of Life pattern.
Take a mason jar with a lid and set the jar on the Flower of Life pattern to energize it. Keep it placed on this pattern during the entire waxing cycle because this allows for your intentions to build with the waxing moon.
Then take pieces of paper and a pen and start writing down ideas that come from your heart center. What can you contribute to the world? What are your goals for this year? How can you share more, love more deeply, be more creative, and find more joy in daily life? Keep adding these ideas to the mason jar for the next 13 days until the Full Moon.
On the evening of the Full Moon place your notes in a burning bowl, which has been placed on top of sand, and light them with the intention that these ideas will be transmuted by fire and energetically sent out through the ethers into the Universe.
4. Create/Begin a Journal
Journaling on a regular basis will help you in being aware and present...it will truly raise your consciousness! A journal is really meant to be an opportunity for self-discovery and expansion which can connect you to your highest potential, and in the most amazing way it can affirm your truths, tap into the secret place within - that you may not often access - and inspire you to manifest more beauty and abundance in your life.
Expressing yourself through a journal will allow you to infuse your dreams and visions with creative energy so you can manifest with joy as you practice mindfully tuning in to your guidance through journaling. It is a beautiful vehicle through which you can ‘travel’ to your innermost desires so you can source inspirations from it.
There are many ways to journal, and there truly is no right or wrong way as you are exploring YOUR OWN path within. The possibilities available to you from the creation of your journal to the things you add to it are just as abundant as the life you can create THROUGH it! Here is my blog post on Journaling to Manifest Beauty and Abundance in Your Life for lots of creative ideas on how you can journal to make a profound difference in the way you connect with your core on a deeper level.
5. Practice Mindful Gratitude and Meditation to Open Yourself to the Flow with Your Source
When we are in a place of mindful gratitude and meditation, we are raising our consciousness and opening ourselves more fully to our Source and THAT is when we are in alignment with our true Soul Path.
The illusion about meditation is that we are always supposed to be silent and move thoughts out of our minds, but true meditation is done in observation of our inner and outer energies. To begin the process of meditation:
Create an environment in which you feel comfortable.
Sit comfortably either on a pillow or in a chair with your feet connected to the earth.
Open your mind as you close your eyes.
Observe the energy of the space in and around you from this vantage point. Notice how the air around you feels . . . does it feel thin? Thick?
See how you feel internally in this moment; what do you notice in your body and your consciousness? Does anything feel heavy? Do you notice any patterns of ‘stuck’ energy?
Be in a state of Gratitude for ALL that you experience in your meditative state . . . it is there to serve you, to teach you, and show you the possibilities of where you can go!
This conscious meditation will naturally take you out of a space of mindless chatter, and bring you into awareness. From there, you are now open to receive true guidance and inspiration from Source.
When doing this, always check the information coming through and make sure that it feels good to you and feels in alignment with your highest Truth.
Paying Attention to Your Inspirations is Vital to The World!
As you become aware of and understand how to work with the energy of the New Moon, these rituals will focus you inward to open yourself to the beautiful inspirations your inner guidance is giving you and wanting to help you nurture and bring to fruition.
Working with the energy of the New Moon and the waxing cycle can bring such a positive impact to you and how you want to show up in your world!
We all come in to this physical experience with the gifts and qualities that we want to enhance and a specific focus of where we want to take this journey.
So, practicing these techniques will help us gather our resources, recognize our potential, and amplify our purpose. Love, Silke.
